Early season report for Haras Du Logis’ two second-crop stallions

With the flat turf season well into full swing, it is worth taking a close up look at some of the achievements so far for Layman and Librettist

Haras Du Logis second-crop stallions, Layman (pictured) and Librettist had runners full of promise last season, but with the season only just underway both have already sired a number of useful winners.

Layman, who stands this season for 4,000€, has sired six winners in France already this season, making him the their leading second-crop sire. Amongst those winners are a trio of Maiden scorers, Layby, winner over 2600m on his second start, Layman Junior, a 2000m scorer on seasonal debut and Oa Laylix, a maiden victor over 2000m. As well as the Maiden winners, Gador has won her last two starts while Kajsa Kavat recorded her second career victory in a competitive 12-runner Deauville Handicap.

Standing at 6,000€ this year, Librettist, has also sired a trio of promising Maiden winners. The Poule d'Essai des Poulains entered Les Troyens was an impressive winner on his seasonal debut at Deauville, while in England, Materialism and Libritish both won their first races easily.

Sire of the dual G2 winner Libranno last season, the highest-rated runner by a French first-crop stallion, Librettist won seven of his first eight starts including the Prix Jacques le Marois and Prix du Moulin.
