Dubawi reaches 50 Group winners in record time

Dubawi well and truly proved himself as a sire head and shoulders above others on 1 August when recording his 50th individual Group winner in a faster time than any other stallion in the world.

Wannabe Yours swept to victory in the G3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood to provide his sire with this milestone win – just 2,038 days after Dubawi’s first crop turned two. No other stallion has ever recorded as many Group winners this quickly and he now joins an elite group to have sired as many winners at this level.

The John Gosden-trained colt was settled off the early pace under William Buick and as the field quickened for home, he came with a fantastic late run to sweep past his rivals and win by a neck from Hors De Combat, with Shamardal’s Bow Creek taking third.

Owned and bred by Normandie Stud, Wannabe Yours is out of the Stakes-winning Grand Lodge mare Wannabe Posh, who gained Black type at Goodwood herself when second in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. She is a half-sister to G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Wannabe Grand.

Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 22 individual Black type winners this year, four of whom have been victorious at the highest level with a further three placing in G1 contests.
