Dubawi dominated the G3 Pinnacle Stakes on Saturday 10 June when he sired the first two home in Bateel and Dubka. Run over a mile-and-a-half at Haydock Park, Bateel was held up near the rear early before making smooth headway at the top of the straight. With both fillies handling the soft ground conditions well, Bateel only had to be nudged out to the line to win easily by one-a-half-lengths with Ajman Princess (Teofilo) a further two-and-three-quarter lengths back in third.
This was the second successive victory for Dubawi in this race after Journey's triumph last season. She would later go onto win the G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes on Champions day.
Bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, Bateel is the second Stakes winner to be produced by the Chief’s Crown mare Attractive Crown after the Prix Charles Laffitte heroine Basemah. A winner in both Ireland and the US, Attractive Crown was also placed in the G2 Pretty Polly Stakes.
Dubawi has now sired 11 individual Group winners this year, plus a further four Black type winners and 14 horses who have been placed at Stakes level. They are headed by G1-winning duo Almanaar and Sobetsu, plus G2 Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth.
