Dubawi fillies dominate in G3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes on Oaks day
The G3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes, the opening race of the Derby meeting, was won in superb style by Dubawi’s smart daughter Arabian Queen, who led from pillar to post to take the one-mile-and-half-a-furlong contest.
The only three-year-old in the race (and easily the smallest), Arabian Queen was sent straight to the front under Silvestre de Sousa and never looked back, extending her lead further and further in the home straight to win by four lengths. Her paternal half-sister Crowley’s Law ran a superb race to finish second and add further Black type to her record.
Arabian Queen was a very smart juvenile who landed the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Newmarket’s July meeting last year. She was making her seasonal reappearance today and holds an entry in the G1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Bred by Jeff Smith’s Littleton Stud, Arabian Queen is the first foal to race out of the G2 winner Barshiba.
World leader Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 14 individual Group winners this year (six of whim have won at G1 level), plus a further eight Listed winners.
