Four-year-old filly Journey became the 26th individual G1 winner for her sire Dubawi, and his fourth so far this year, with a hugely impressive win in the Fillies and Mares Stakes at Ascot.
The John Gosden-trained filly was settled in a perfect position under Frankie Dettori, just off the early pace set by Pretty Perfect. Asked to quicken once entering the home straight, she could not have been more impressive, accelerating brilliantly to sweep to the front and eventually won by four lengths.
Lightly campaigned this year, this was the third straight Black type win for Journey, who won the G3 Pinnacle Stakes back in May before landing the Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket last time out.
Owned and bred by George Strawbridge, Journey is out of the G1-winning Montjeu mare Montare.
Dubawi has sired 28 individual Stakes winners so far this year, four of whom have won at the highest level. His other 2016 G1 winners are Left Hand, Postponed and Wuheida.
Dubawi also set the sales ring alight at the recent Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1, averaging 972,667 guineas with two of his colts selling for 2.6 milllion guineas.
