Moulton Paddocks stalwart Glorious Journey led home a 1-2 for his sire Dubawi when taking the G2 Park Stakes ahead of stablemate D’bai on St Leger day at Doncaster on Saturday, 11 September.
A Group winner every season throughout his career, Glorious Journey raced prominently, making headway two furlongs out to lead. Ridden in the final furlong, the ever consistent six-year-old kept on well to take a sixth Group win with his paternal sibling D’bai a length and a quarter behind.
Bred by Normandie Stud and purchased for 2.6 million guineas as a yearling at Tattersalls Book 1 sale, Glorious Journey is a half-brother to the Stakes-winning Love Is You and out of Dansili’s G1 Coronation Stakes victrix Fallen For You. She is out of the Listed-winning and G3-placed Fallen Star, a half-sister to G1 Lockinge Stakes winner Fly To The Stars.
Glorious Journey is one of 27 Stakes winners this season for his phenomenal sire Dubawi, with 16 of these coming at Group level.
Among his 44 individual G1 winners are Classic hero Night Of Thunder, himself now the best first-crop sire in the 50-year history of the pattern; European Champion two-year-old Too Darn Hot, and last season’s Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath, who has just completed a successful first season at Kildangan Stud.
