The team at Woodcote Stud had much cause for celebration on Saturday. Not only did former Broodmare of the Year Danseuse Du Soir deliver a filly foal from the first crop of Authorized but hours later, her Fantastic Light four-year-old Scintillo hung on in the tightest of finishes at Lingfield to win the G3 Winter Derby. This was his second victory of the week after landing the Listed Dragonfly Stakes at Kempton on Wednesday evening.
Scintillo, whose sire now stands for Darley in Japan, won the G1 Gran Criterium as a two-year-old during which season his half-brother Jumbajukiba won the G3 Solonaway Stakes at the Curragh to secure the TBA broodmare prize for their dam. 21-year-old Danseuse Du Soir was top-class on the track herself, winning the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de la Foret for her former owner Daniel Wildenstein.
Over the weekend, it was also announced that four-time Group One winner Soviet Song has been tested in foal to new Darley sire Raven's Pass.
