First-season sire Iffraaj double his number of winners on a single afternoon when Forjatt and Waltz Darling both won at the first time of asking on 2 June.
At Nottingham, Sheikh Ahmed’s Forjatt tracked the early leaders under Frankie Dettori and despite showing signs of greenness when asked to quicken, ran on well inside the final furlong to win by a head from Gold Pearl (by fellow Darley first-season sire Henny Hughes).
Bred by Michael Downey and Roalso Ltd, Forjatt is out of the winning Danzero mare Graceful Air, now dam of two winners. She is a half-sister to smart juvenile performer Mystical Land (by Darley Japan stallion Xaar).
Less than three hours later, fellow debutant Waltz Darling landed the six-furlong maiden at Ripon. Settled just off the pace, the Richard Fahey-trained colt was asked to quicken a furlong from home and ran on impressively to win by a length and a half from the more experienced Sea Flower.
Bred by Natalie Cleary, Waltz Darling is out of the Halling mare Aljafliyah, also dam of The Only Boss (Exceed And Excel) who won twice at two. Aljafliyah is herself a half-sister to Singspiel's G2-placed Stakes winner Sohgol.
Iffraaj, a dual G2 winner who was beaten by the narrowest of margins in the G1 July Cup, is also sire of fellow debut winner Nasharra and Godolphin's promising filly Idiom.
