A brilliant turn of foot helped three-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Excelleration to a dominant victory in the Listed Gore Guineas in New Zealand on Saturday, 20 January.
After suffering interference with 500m to run in the 1,335m race, Excelleration was giving the leader a six-length start but once she regained her balance, unleashed an overpowering sprint to win by two lengths.
Her success was the third in seven starts for the filly, who was bred by Pee Gee and WJ Bloodstock and partners.
Excelleration is the first foal out of G1 New Zealand Guineas second Abeautifulred, herself a half-sister to Australian G2 winner Bird Of Fire.
Exceed And Excel, Europe's leading sprint stallion last year, stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland at a fee of €50,000, October 1, Special Live Foal.
