With no fewer than 11 individual G1 winners to his name this year alone, it is no surprise that yearlings by Dubawi are in high demand at this week’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 and on the second day of the sale, he was responsible for a the highest-priced yearling anywhere in the world this year.
Offered by Newsells Park Stud, his daughter out of Loveisallyouneed eventually went to John Magnier for 2.1 million guineas. She hails from a family packed with G1 winners, as her dam is a full sister to both Yesterday and Quarter Moon, with the latter already the producer of a G1 winner herself in Diamondsandrubies.
She is the fifth millionaire yearling for Dubawi, who also topped this year’s Arqana August Sale with a €2.6 million colt.
There had been success earlier in the day for Newsells Park, when their Dubawi colt out of G1 performer Flawly (already dam of two Group winners and a Listed winner) went to A & E Bloodstock for 725,000 guineas.
Also making a good impression were yearlings by New Approach, whose top lot of the day was a 400,000 guineas colt out of Cherry Hinton winner and Cheveley Park second Misheer, who was offered by Highclere Stud and was bought by Shadwell.
New Approach was also responsible for Hillwood Stud’s 375,000 guineas colt, out of G2 winner Meeznah. He was bought by Blandford Bloodstock.
The first yearlings by star Aussie duo Helmet and Sepoy continued to post fantastic returns on their fees and on Wednesday Helmet averaged 113,125 – over 11 times his covering fee.
Shadwell went to 250,000 guineas to secure his colt out of a half-sister to Majestic Missile, offered by Oaks Farm Stables – his highest price of the day.
Sepoy had five yearlings sell for an average of 116,000 guineas – just over ten times his fee. His top price was 200,000 guineas, paid by Mayfair Speculators and Doyle Bloodstock for a colt out of Group winner Mazuna – already dam of a Black type performer in Beautiful Romance (New Approach).
The sale continues today.
