Crimson Rosette led home a one-two for her sire Teofilo in the Listed Chalice Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, 4 August. Coming into the race on the back of creditable placed efforts in the G3 Pinnacle Stakes and Listed Fred Archer Stakes, she defied early keenness to defeat her paternal half-sister Alwaysandforever by just over a length, with four-and-a-half lengths back to the third.
Owned and bred by Anthony Oppenheimer, she is a three-parts sister to Australian Stakes-winner Astronomos (New Approach) and out of the winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Crimson Ribbon, a full-sister to G2 Hardwicke Stakes winner Bronze Cannon.
Crimson Rosette is one of 125 Stakes performers for her sire Teofilo including 14 that have won at the highest level. This year his evergreen son Happy Clapper has won both the G1 Doncaster Handicap and the G1 Canterbury Stakes both at Randwick. His juveniles of 2018 are headed by impressive Curragh victor Guaranteed, who won the same race his sire did a fortnight ago.
