The winners just keep coming for Darley first-season sire Iffraaj, who is not only Europe’s leading first-season sire but also Europe’s leading sire of two-year-olds, and the talented young sire notched his 18th individual winner on 21 July when Introvert justified odds-on favouritism to take the seven-furlong maiden at Lingfield.
The Godolphin colt, who is trained by Mahmood al Zarooni, made all and ridden along inside the final furlong, kept to his task well to win by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Mrs T Marnane, Introvert is out of the Sunday Silence mare Isana, who is now dam of three winners from three foals to race. She is herself a sister to Black type performer Celestial Lagoon – dam of two Stakes-placed performers including the Listed-winning G3-placed filly Maria Gabriella.
Iffraaj is not the only Darley stallion currently enjoying an outstanding season with his juveniles – just behind him in the leading sire of two-year-olds table is Exceed And Excel who has sired 15 juvenile winners so far this year. His latest crop of gifted youngsters include Group-placed trio Excel Bolt (third Norfolk Stakes, G2), Klammer (third Superlative Stakes, G2) and Margot Did (second Albany Stakes, G3).
