Catkins claws victory away from Cameo
Dubawi four-year-old mare Catkins recorded her eighth career victory and fourth at Stakes level when winning the G3 Eliza Park International Stakes over a mile at Moonee Valley in Australia.
Settled in fourth just behind the leaders, Catkins had the run of the race and as Shamardal mare Cameo skipped clear rounding the home turn, she was pulled back to the rail and accelerated impressively to win by a length.
This was her second victory at this level, having won the G3 How Now Stakes over 6f two starts ago.
Bred by Owen Carter, Catkins is the second foal out of the Catbird mare Salix Caprea, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rally.
Dubawi is the sire of 62 Stakes winners, including 11 individual G1 winners including Al Kazeem, Monterosso and fellow Darley stallion Poet's Voice.
