Catkins claims seventh career Stakes win
One of the most consistent mares in training in Australia, four-year-old Dubawi mare Catkins came off a last start third at G1 level to claim the G2 Emancipation Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on April 5.
Jumping away the best from the barriers, jockey Hugh Bowman allowed the mare to settle in second position and after she ambled up to the leader as they rounded the home turn, it was just a matter of how far she would win by? In this case, the grey mare recorded victory by one-and-a-half-lengths.
Taking her earnings past the A$1 million mark, the mare has recorded 11 career wins with a further seven placed efforts from 21 starts for her connections.
Bred by Owen Carter, Catkins is the second foal from Catbird mare Salix Caprea, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rally.
The third Stakes winner in the past week in Australia and 68th overall for her sire, Dubawi is standing at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £100,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
