Shamardal's talented four-year-old son Captain Sonador, who landed the G1 Epsom Handicap last October, returtned to winning ways in convincing fashion on 2 January when running out the easy winner of the 1200m Listed Goldmarket Handicap at the Gold Coast.
Partnered by regular rider Glen Boss, Captain Sonador sat behind the pacemakers before asserting his dominance in the straight, displaying a scintillating turn of foot to win by a length.
Bred by Mill Park Stud and a graduate of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Captain Sonador is the first foal of winning Kenny’s Best Pal mare Pushing Daisies, a half-sister to G2 winner Umaline.
Shamardal, also sire of fellow G1 winners Faint Perfume, Casamento and Lope De Vega, will be represented by thirteen yearlings at the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
