Cape Cross filly Sabana Perdida recorded her second pattern victory when landing the seven-furlong (1400m) Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield Park.
Making her seasonal debut, she faced a stiff task giving weight to her rivals but the result was never in doubt. She was given a confident ride by Christophe Lemaire and swept to the front over a furlong (200m) out to win comfortably.
She has now won her last two starts, both at G3 level, and a rise in grade looks assured for this rapidly improving filly. She is entered at Royal Ascot in the G2 Windsor Forest Stakes, where she will be looking to go two better than last year, when she was an excellent third behind Nannina.
Sabana Perdida’s victory rounded off a very good week for Cape Cross, which included siring the unbeaten Pretty Polly Stakes victrix Saphira’s Fire.
Also on Saturday, Dubai Destination's three-year-old filly Rosa Del Dubai won a Stakes race at her first attempt when victorious in the Listed Premio A. Zanoletti Di Rozzano. Unbeaten in two starts as a two-year-old, she has now won four from six, never being unplaced. She is the third foal and third winner for her dam, Rosa di Brema, who won six times and was placed second in the G1 Oaks d’Italia.
