Cape Cross' juvenile son Kalimdor notched his second career Stakes victory on Sunday September 11 when landing the Tyay Ve Sah der over Istanbul's 1400m turf course. A local G2 contest, he overcame trouble in running to get the verdict in the shadow of the post, in the process notching his third victory in a six-race career.
Kalimdor's dam Dawn Surprise, a three-time winning mare by Theatrical, was covered by Cape Cross before being sold in foal at Goffs for €34,000. The resulting offspring was foaled in Turkey by H Yavas and hails from the family of top-grade Argentinean performers Lignify and Litigado.
The sire of 67 worldwide Stakes winners, Cape Cross is famous for siring outstanding Champions the world over. In Europe he has Sea The Stars and Ouija Board, while in New Zealand he sired the great racemare, Seachange, between them they were the winners of 20 G1 races. This season Cape Cross sired three Royal Ascot winners, a figure no other stallion can better.
