Three-year-old filly Bezique, by Cape Cross, remained on course for the Italian Classics on Sunday April 10, when winning the Listed Premio Seregno over a mile at Milan.
Unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile, including the Listed Premio Repubbliche Marinare, she was making her seasonal debut and beat G3 winner Adamantina into second.
Bred in England by Aston House Stud, she is the second foal and second winner from the Peintre Celebre mare Batik, who is a half-sister to G3 winner Bauer (Halling), who went so close to landing the Melbourne Cup in 2008.
Cape Cross, who stands this season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €35,000, has sired eight G1 winners worldwide including the incomparable Sea The Stars and Ouija Board. Already in 2011 he has sired the Epsom Oaks bound Khawlah, who pulled off the double of winning the UAE and Derby at Meydan.
