Canwinn used the experience of his four prior placed efforts to good effect on Tuesday when landing the mile maiden at Nottingham.
The colt is the seventh winner for his first-season sire Refuse To Bend. Racing in the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, Canwinn was bred by Oak Lodge Stud and is a half-brother to several winners, including seven-time scorer Pawan (Cadeaux Genereux), Hot Trotter (Halling) and Sailing Shoes. Their dam, herself a juvenile winner, is Born To Glamour, by Ajdal, and she has a filly foal by leading freshman Kheleyf.
Refuse To Bend's other winners to date include Favourite Girl, who saluted for the second time on 9 August in a Haydock nursery, and the highly-regarded Courageous, who won on debut at Redcar last month.
