Brazen Beau, a son of leading first-crop sire I Am Invincible, will stand at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket, while Street Sense’s son Hallowed Crown and Shooting To Win, by the short-lived top sprinter Northern Meteor, will both be at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. The Exceed And Excel horse Sidestep goes to Haras du Logis in France.
Recently crowned Australia’s Champion Sprinter, Brazen Beau defeated older horses in stunning fashion in the G1 Newmarket Handicap, the race which put Exceed And Excel on the world stage. He also beat the fastest of his own age in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, a race that Sepoy took in his day. He was narrowly beaten in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot this summer, running a fine race up the stand’s side. The grandson of Invincible Spirit, who is from the family of noted speed influence Night Shift, retired rated 127 by Timeform and is currently covering his first book of mares at Darley’s Northwood Park, Victoria.
Hallowed Crown was an unbeaten Group winner at two, who was especially impressive over seven furlongs and a mile at three, winning the G1 Golden Rose before taking the G1 Randwick Guineas over a mile. Successful in six of his nine starts, he retired with a Timeform rating of 125 and will be the best horse from the Street Cry sire line to stand in Europe. From the immediate family of Champion sire Zabeel, he is currently in his first season at Kelvinside, Darley’s New South Wales headquarters.
Shooting To Win, who joins Hallowed Crown shuttling to Kildangan Stud in Ireland, was also a G1-winning miler, and also rated 125 by Timeform. The son of Champion first-season sire Northern Meteor recorded his greatest triumph in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas, the equivalent of the 2,000 Guineas and a renowned stallion-making race. He captured the one-mile contest in a faster time than previous winners Lonhro and Redoute’s Choice and was also the impressive three-length winner of the G2 Stan Fox Stakes, beating a high-class field over seven furlongs. His is the notable family of leading sire Commands and also Lonhro’s sire Octagonal.
Sidestep is a Champion two-year-old by the world’s leading sire of juvenile Stakes winners. The precocious son of Exceed And Excel was a G2 winner over six furlongs before being runner-up in the world’s richest juvenile event, the G1 Golden Slipper at two. The best colt of his generation at two, he emulated his sire at three, sprinting to victory in the G2 Royal Sovereign Stakes, beating G1 winner Bounding and last week’s G1 Manikato hero Chautuaqua.
Sam Bullard, Darley’s director of stallions, said: “Darley’s shuttle stallions have already made a significant impact on northern hemisphere racing, notably Exceed And Excel, who is the world’s leading sire of juvenile Stakes winners. In addition, our young shuttlers Sepoy and Helmet were very well received at the yearling sales this autumn, with both stallions averaging an impressive five times their stud fee in the sale ring.
“We are delighted to be introducing European breeders to four well-bred, precocious and very talented new horses in the same mould. The best Australian horses have a market all around the world and in Brazen Beau, Hallowed Crown, Shooting To Win and Sidestep we really do have the best that there is. I hope breeders will enjoy watching their races on our website and finding out all about them. They will not be disappointed!”
Fees for all four stallions will be announced at a later date.
