Behkabad kept his unbeaten record intact on his third racecourse appearance with victory in the G3 Prix des Chenes over a mile at Longchamp on Saturday.
HH The Aga Khan’s homebred two-year-old Cape Cross colt made a winning debut on 7 July in the Prix de la Gironde and followed up this success with another win a month later at Deauville. He is out of the Kris mare Behkara and is a half-brother to Beheshtam, who won the Listed Prix de l’Avre at the same course in May.
Cape Cross was also responsible for the G3-placed filly Mont Fleuri in the Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield in Australia on Saturday and among his other promising juveniles in Europe this season is the Darley-bred Colonial, winner of the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure in July.
There was also Stakes success for Royal Applause three-year-old Prince Siegfried, who continued the excellent form of the Godolphin stable with a three-and-a-quarter length victory in the Listed Doonside Cup at Ayr.
Bred in France by Haras Saint Pair du Mont, Prince Siegfried is a son of Intrum Morshaan (Darshaan) and has now won three of his eight starts and finished runner-up by a head in the G1 Criterium International last season.
Royal Applause, who stands at the Royal Studs at Sandringham, has been represented this season by Battle Of Hastings, a dual Grade Two winner in the US, G2 Betfair Cup winner Finjaan, G3 Albany Stakes winner Habaayib and the Listed winners Apple Charlotte, Crime Scene and Corporal Maddox.
