Dubawi sired his 35th Stakes winner on Sunday October 16, when his three-year-old daughter Handassa landed the Listed Garnet Stakes at Naas. An unbeaten juvenile, she was only making her fifth career start when taking the one mile contest by two-lengths.
Bred by Red House Stud and sold to Shadwell for 100,000Gns as a yearling, she is out of the unraced Diktat mare Starstone, a half-sister to the G1-winning sprinters Pastoral Pursuits and Goodricke. Starstone also has a colt foal by Authorized.
Handassa is the 20th Stakes winner sired by Dubawi in 2011 alone. Amongst those are four top-level winners spanning four continents. In Germany, Waldmark was victorious in their Derby, while in the U.S., Dubawi Heights landed a brace of G1’s, the Gamely and Yellow Ribbon Stakes. In South Africa, Happy Archer landed her second G1-success in the Garden Province Stakes, while top Australia filly Secret Admirer took the Epsom Handicap to go with her 2010 G1 triumph in the Flight Stakes.
