The first foals by Modern Games are arriving thick and fast, with the young Darley stallion reaching 50 on the ground on Sunday, 23 March when Parknasilla produced a chesnut colt (pictured below). The mare is already dam to two Black Type performers in Geologist and Rock Hunter.
Among the mares to have foaled so far this season are four G1 producers in Montare (dam of Journey), Jealous Again (dam of Sceptical), Sound Reflection (dam of Walk Of Stars) and Miss Phillyjinks (dam of Tiger Tanaka).
Over a quarter of his foals to date are out of Stakes-performing mares, with no fewer than 20 being siblings to G1 performers including Emily Upjohn, Ribchester, Seal of Approval, Jack Hobbs, Ghaiyyath, Beauty Parlour, Kitesurf and Silasol.
There are still plenty of impeccably bred foals to come, however, with 16 Stakes performers (including four who placed at G1 level) awaiting their 2025 offspring, plus 12 mares who have already produced Stakes performers, among them the dam of Too Darn Hot's juvenile Listed winner Hot Darling.
One particularly notable mare who visited Modern Games last year is Jazzi Top, from the top Meon Valley family and whose last yearling sold for 575,000 guineas.
Modern Games was nothing short of sensational on the racecourse, winning G1 contests at two, three and four. He was the first back-to-back Breeders' Cup winner since High Chapparal and retired as Champion miler in Europe and Eclipse Champion Male Turf Horse.
