After dominating the afternoon’s racing on Saturday at Chantilly, Dubawi’s daughter Wuheida ensured the Darley stallions got off to a winning start on Arc day with an emphatic victory in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac.
Always prominent under William Buick, the Charlie Appleby-trained filly was still travelling well at the two-furlong marker and taking the lead inside the final furlong, ran on superbly to win by a length from Promise To be True, with Sepoy’s daughter Dabyah taking third.
Wuheida made a successful racecourse debut at Newmarket in August, with an eye-catching victory that suggested there was plenty more to come. She will now be put away for the year, with the 2017 Classics now firmly on her agenda.
Wuheida is out of the multiple G1 winner Hibaayeb (Singspiel), who took the Fillies’ Mile at two before going on to take the Ribblesdale and the G1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at three.
Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 26 individual Black type winners this year, headed by multiple G1 winner and Arc favourite Postponed. Only yesterday his son Move Up added another Group victory to his record when landing the Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot.
Dubawi has 19 lots due to go under the hammer at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 this week.
