Shamardal, Europe’s leading first-season sire, recorded his 22nd individual winner on 18 November when Jarrow justified odds-on favouritism to take the six-furlong maiden at Lingfield by four and a half lengths.
Making all under Joe Fanning, the Mark Johnston-trained colt – who was narrowly beaten on his debut less than two weeks ago -moved clear of his rivals with a furlong left to run and won comfortably.
Bred by Derek Veitch, Jarrow is out of the Last Tycoon mare Wolf Cleugh, making him a half-brother to Group-winning sprinter Moss Vale. Wolf Cleugh has also produced another Black type performer in Exceed And Excel's G3-placed filly Alexander Youth.
