Moonlight Spirit, a three-year-old son of Dubawi, gained an impressive first Group win when readily taking the G3 Prix de Lutece at Longchamp on Sunday, 1 September. Prominent throughout, the homebred colt drew clear in the final 400m to seal an impressive victory by four and a half lengths.
A Godolphin homebred, Moonlight Spirit is the third foal out of Moonsail (Monsun), an own-sister to the Listed Pretty Polly winner Kailani and half-sister to G1 Dubai Sheema Classic hero Eastern Anthem. They are out of the European Champion three-year-old filly Kazzia who’s G1 victories included both the One Thousand Guineas and the Oaks.
Moonlight Spirit is the 20th Group winner this season for his star sire Dubawi after the G1 victories of Too Darn Hot and Coronet. Dubawi is the sire of no less than 40 individual G1 winners including dual G1 winning miler Night Of Thunder who has enjoyed enormous success with his first two-year-olds this year.
