Dubawi, the world’s leading active sire, was responsible for a milestone winner on Wednesday, 15 June when his son Eldar Eldarov became his 150th individual Group winner.
Roger Varian’s progressive charge was only making his third racecourse appearance, but showed little sign of inexperience as he was settled off the pace under David Egan. Switched left with two furlongs left to run, Eldar Eldarov made good headway and collared Zechariah in the dying strides to prevail by a nose.
Eldar Eldarov broke his maiden last October with a five-length victory at Nottingham, before posting another convincing win at Newcastle last month. He is now a leading contender for the final Classic of the season, the G1 St Leger.
Bred by Kirsten Rausing, Eldar Eldarov is out of the multiple Stakes winner and G2-placed All At Sea (Sea The Stars), herself a daughter of multiple G1 winner and Champion Albanova.
Dubawi has now sired an unparalleled 23 individual Black Type winners in 2022 including 2,000 Guineas winner Coroebus, who followed up yesterday with a thrilling victory in the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes. He is one of three Stakes winner so far at this year's Royal Ascot, with Wolferton Stakes winner Dubai Future completing the trio.
Dubawi is also sire of another Guineas winner this year in Modern Games.
