First-season sire Pinatubo added a second new winner this week to his record on Thursday 31 October when Spectacular View put up an impressive performance to take the seven-furlong novice at Chelmsford.
Always up with the pace under Dougie Costello, Charlie Appleby’s charge was asked to quicken two furlongs out and responded impressively, holding off the late challenge from fellow Godolphin runner Fifth Column to win by a neck.
Spectacular View was bred by G R Bailey Ltd and is out of the Stakes-placed Teofilo mare Vivianite, now dam of two winners from two foals to race. She is herself a granddaughter of G1 winner Crystal Music.
Pinatubo is now sire of 19 individual winners including the Group-placed duo Cavallo Bay and Wolf Of Badenoch, plus fellow Black Type performers Basalt and Qilin Queen.
His second-crop yearlings have sold for up to 375,000 guineas and his lifetime average stands at £118,000.
