Princess Rhaenys stamped her breeding page with Black Type after outstaying Deny Knowledge and Thalassophile in the Listed Tattersall’s Gold Crown over 2143m at Eagle Farm on Saturday, 29 June.
Beautifully ridden by globetrotting Australian jockey Blake Shinn, Princess Rhaenys tracked Deny Knowledge to the home turn before taking over in the straight and then holding off the runner-up.
Out of the New Zealand mare Orinda, who is also the dam of three-time Stakes winner and 2017 ATC Australian Derby champion Jon Snow, Princess Rhaenys took her record to six wins and nine placings from 26 starts under Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan.
The now six-year-old was bred by Hong Kong Breeders Club Ltd and offered by Glastonbury Farms, Scone at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale before being knocked down to Peachester Lodge P/L for $460,000.
Her win boosted the record of Darley shuttle sire Iffraaj to 1190 winners of 3445 races worldwide, including 99 Stakes winners of 183 Black Type events.
Early last month, Western Empire (Iffraaj) won the G3 Northam Stakes over 1,300m before repeating the effort in the G3 Belmont Sprint over 1,400m in Perth 13 days later.
On the same date in England, Audience (Iffraaj) won the G1 Lockinge Stakes over 1,609m at Newbury.
