Cracksman, sire of unbeaten Champion Ace Impact, added a new Black Type winner to his record on Tuesday 7 November when his daughter Safety Catch took the Listed River Eden Stakes at Lingfield.
Racing in mid division under Cieren Fallon, the William Haggas-trained filly began to make headway with three furlongs left to run. Taking the lead two furlongs out, Safety Catch kept on well close to home to repel the challenge from favourite Divine Jewel and win by a head.
Safety Catch is a homebred for Anthony Oppenheimer, who of course bred Cracksman himself and saw his colours carried to two wide-margin victories in the Champion Stakes. The filly is out of the Stakes winner Tempest Fugit, a half-sister to Champion sprinter and G1 winner Total Gallery.
Also on Tuesday, first-season sire Too Darn Hot recorded a new winner when Royal Tapestry ran out the convincing winner of the one-mile nursery at Lingfield.
Royal Tapestry was bred by Godolphin and runs in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum. He is out of the Group-placed Hard Spun mare Woven Lace, also dam of Champion older sprinter Broderie.
Cracksman and Too Darn Hot both stand at Dalham Hall Stud at fees of £17,500 and £65,000 respectively, both Oct 1, SLF.
