Ace Impact’s brilliant victory in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday not only cemented his position as the best European three-year-old since his sire Cracksman, but also further added to the recent domination of Europe’s top-flight contests by the Darley stallions.
Arc day saw not only Ace Impact’s demolition of the field in the Arc, but a first G1 winner for leading first-season sire Blue Point as his son Rosallion absolutely flew home to take the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere in record time.
There was also an incredible fourth victory at the highest level for Night Of Thunder’s superb flagbearer Highfield Princess, who put up arguably her gutsiest performance yet to win the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye.
Since 1 September, there have been no fewer than seven Darley-sired G1 winners, accounting for almost half of European G1 winners by active stallions standing in the region.
Leading the way, unsurprisingly, is Dubawi, who is enjoying yet another outstanding year, with Territories and first-season sire Too Darn Hot also contributing to this unrivalled tally.
Each of the G1 sires will be represented by their latest crop of yearlings over the coming weeks at Tattersalls, with Book 1 commencing at Park Paddocks on Tuesday 3 October.
