Shamardal

Conformation notes by John Ferguson

Which is he, a son of Giant's Causeway or from the family of Street Cry? Although some of the Shamardals can be hot - like many Storm Cats - the majority of his offspring tend to be temperamentally very sound, like Street Cry. Certainly, you will not find a more professional or easy-to-deal-with racehorse than Shamardal himself. Mark Johnston says Shamardal was just one of the crowd - until the first time he worked him, which left an indelible memory. He went from being Champion two-year-old to outstanding three-year-old, and his stud record is there for all to see, siring horses who mature early and share his aptitudes. Plain head, slightly offset, not the best action - but he sires stock who are sound, solid, professional, and with real ability.
