Treble for Teofilo

Simba becomes his sire’s third Stakes winner this weekend

Teofilo, already enjoying an outstanding weekend courtesy of Parish Hall’s G3 win at the Curragh earlier today - a day after Amralah’s Stakes win at Newbury, added a third Stakes winner in two days when his son Simba stormed to victory in the Listed Sommerpreis at Hoppegarten.

Settled off the early pace, the Andrea Wöhler-trained three-year-old was asked to quicken two furlongs from home and soon moved clear of his rivals, running on superbly to win by three lengths.

Bred by Gestut Fahrhof, Simba is out of the Stakes-winning One Cool Cat mare Sarabia and is from the family of G1 winner Sudan.

Teofilo has now sired nine individual Stakes winners this year, plus a further ten horses who have been placed at Black type level. They include G1 winner Sonntag plus Oaks second Tarfasha. His Irish Derby winner Trading Leather was recently second to Shamardal’s Mukhadram in the G1 Eclipse.
