Six winners for Vale Of York

Thecornishassassin leads all the way at Lingfield

First-season sire Vale Of York has made a fantastic start with his first runners and on 8 July he added a sixth winner when Thecornishassassin took the seven-furlong maiden at Lingfield.

Sent straight to the front under Adam Kirby, the Robert Eddery-trained colt moved clear of the field with two furlongs left to run and could not be caught, running on well to win by a length and a half from Runner Runner, with the third-placed horse almost four lengths further adrift.

Bred by Cranford Bloodstock and Houghton Bloodstock, Thecornishassassin is out of the winning Hennessy mare Harmonist, herself a daughter of G2 winner and G1 performer Geraldine’s Store who is in turn a half-sister to the great Al Bahathri.

Vale Of York’s six winners to date are headed by unbeaten Group winner Fontanelice, plus Haxby – last seen running a creditable fifth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
