Second winner for Vale Of York

Haxby breaks his maiden in impressive style at Doncaster

First-season sire Vale Of York recorded his second winner on 17 May when his son Haxby realised the promise shown on his debut to break his maiden in eye-catching fashion at Doncaster.

Tracking the early leaders under Tom Queally, the Roger Varian-trained colt began to progress smoothly through the field at the halfway stage and took the lead a furlong from home, moving clear with ease to win by a length and three quarters.

Bred by John Malone, Haxby is out of Endless Peace, a half-sister to five Black type performers including smart Group-winning sprinter Hoh Mike. She has now produced three winners from three foals to race.

Vale Of York, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, is also sire of Fontanelice, who won by an astounding nine lengths on her racecourse debut earlier this month.

He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €3,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
