Darley acquires Royal Ascot sprint hero Slade Power

Europe’s best sprinter, Slade Power, has been purchased by Darley following his recent win in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot

The five-year-old will remain in training with Edward Lynam and will race in the colours of his current owner, Mrs Sabena Power until the end of this year.

Slade Power’s next target is the G1 Darley July Cup, a race in which he finished third last year. His end of season target is the 1200m G1 VRC Sprint at Flemington in Australia on 8th November - Emirates Stakes Day, the second Saturday of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Joe Osborne, Darley’s managing director in Ireland said, “Slade Power is an incredibly tough racehorse who consistently performs at the highest level. He’s the northern hemisphere’s best sprinter and with a physique to match, he’ll be a popular addition to our roster when he retires to stud at Kildangan at the end of the year.”
